Andrea Konečná Receives the Learned Society of the Czech Republic Award

The Learned Society of the Czech Republic awarded Andrea Konečná from the Institute of Physical Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and CEITEC BUT, in the category of young researcher. The award recognizes her research combining electron microscopy, spectroscopy, solid-state physics, and light optics, opening new possibilities for next-generation electron microscopes and imaging methods.

At the 32nd General Assembly of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic, held on May 11, 2026, doc. Ing. Andrea Konečná, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and CEITEC BUT in Brno received an award in the category of young researcher.

Andrea Konečná leads the Advanced Electron Microscopy and Spectroscopy research group. Her work combines electron microscopy, spectroscopy, solid-state physics, and light optics, with a particular focus on the interaction of fast electrons with optical fields, shaping of electron beams, and the development of light-controlled electron optics.

The research of her group has recently been supported by two prestigious grants – the Junior Star grant of the Czech Science Foundation and the ERC-CZ programme of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. During her doctoral studies in San Sebastián, Spain, and subsequent work in Barcelona, she published in leading scientific journals and established numerous international collaborations.

Alongside her scientific work, Andrea Konečná is also actively involved in teaching and supervising students at the Institute of Physical Engineering.

We warmly congratulate Associate Professor Konečná on this achievement! The full list of award recipients was published on the website of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic.
